The bridal guide
|
With the wedding season around, it is time to look gorgeous while tying the knot. Here is a bride's quick guide for that special day.
|
IT IS that time of the year when wedding bells ring. There are the hurried weeks of shopping for the wardrobe, jewellery and home appliances, outfits have to be tried out and the guest lists have to be prepared. Amid all the rush, take some off to look your best, relaxed, composed and gorgeous for the D-day.
The mantra is plan and be organised. And this is how you can go about it.
The beauty regime...
Find a beautician you are comfortable with. "Ideally the beauty regime for the bride starts a month in advance. Regular facials pearl, oxy facials, honey and saffron, gold and others once a week, deep cleaning and aroma treatment for the face, with a hair massage and pack, is ideal. Don't neglect the hands and feet. Find some time for a facial, hair care and the weekly pedicure and manicure," says Chetana Parekh, cosmetologist.
At home...
Turmeric is an essential part of the Indian "bride-making" ceremony, as it adds that extra glow. Team up home beauty regime with the professional parlour visits. Another area that needs attention is the hands, which will be under focus. Use rubber gloves while doing the laundry or dishes. Take a few drops of lemon juice and sugar granules in the palm. Rub the palms together till the sugar dissolves. Further, massage the hands with a good cream before you go to bed.
Food wise...
Avoid junk food, crash diets and mithais as much as possible. Have plenty of fruits, fruit juices, water and milk daily. In fact the glass of warm milk helps as a nightcap to give you a peaceful slumber amidst the wedding din around, one thing you badly need. Nothing works better than regular 6-8 hours of beauty sleep to make you look fresh and bright on the D-day. Another ritual before you hit the bed is to get rid of the make up, so that the skin gets to breathe.
Shopping...
Shop for the matching lipsticks, eye shadows and nail enamel and pack them with the outfit carefully so that you can use them in a jiffy. The bindis with stones and other embellishments are `in'.
The make-up...
Natural look is in with a bronze, pink or yellow base. Go for glitter a matching gold and silver to go with the gold ornaments or the diamond and pearl set.
For the lipsticks, maroons and reds are as passé. Today, it is more of peach and cream with a dash of silver, and chiffons taking the place of Benares silk.
A trial of the wedding make-up is a must in order to prevent any fiascos on the D-day. It is the corrective make-up starting at the jaw line, chin, forehead and nose with different shades of foundations used to undertone the broad features, and a base make-up with the concealer for the pimple marks, dark circles and scars. Emphasis must be on highlighting prominent features, such as defining the lips. Further, use hydrating lipsticks for those long hours under the harsh lights, as also the waterproof eyeliner and mascara for the eyes.
Try out the Maybelline and L'Oreal line for the lipsticks. The make-up cake from Max Factor is another good buy.
All geared up...
Getting married is an important moment in one's life. So look your awesome best. Apart from the beauty and healthy diet regimes, attitude too matters... be relaxed and poised. Be happy, and look forward to the occasion.
