WHEN IT comes to watching news on television, does anyone need to tell you that there is already an overdose of programmes on everyday happenings? Besides some channels saving a slot or two for current events, we have now a handful of 24-hour news channels unfolding events to us as they happen. The plus point is, with different treatment to the same news items, various programmes do give the viewers a chance to sieve the truth from the frills, and also a choice to choose timings according to suitability. Adding to this scenario will be "Rozana", a news-related programme to be beamed by the DD2 every night from this Monday.
Produced by Delhi-based BAG Films, the programme will be on the air at 10.30 pm for a full 24 minutes. Terming it as "innovative infotainment", the production house's Managing Director, Anuradha Prasad says "Rozana" will have 12 broad platforms, from news headlines and analysis to investigative reporting to public concern areas to a dialogue with the most controversial personality of the week.
"By the time the programme would be on TV, most of the news would become stale in this electronic media age. So, Rozana gives a wrap-up of events laced with analysis. Also, it will not just feature political reports and politicians but special coverage on everyday issues which are not well highlighted besides knickknacks from Bollywood," says this better half of journalist-turned Rajya Sabha member Rajiv Shukla.
"Rozana", named after her earlier programme in DD News channel for the last two years, will also include the Shukla-anchored interview show "Ru-ba-ru" wherein important personalities from every field will be invited for a one-to-one.
Excited about the programme being produced in sponsored category, this producer of the "Chalti Ka Naam Antakshri" promises it will be different. Well, let's see how this much-used word becomes really different here.
